I am on my 5th try to get my pilot's license. I have "failed" so to speak 4 times before. More on those attempts in future entries...but here I am again, I started back again a month ago (on my 42nd Birthday), trying once again to climb my "Mount Everest" and finally get the monkey, which has in recent months grown into a gorilla, off of my back! I have had 3 more lessons since and despite a multitude of challenges, from financial to personal, I am going on anyhow. I am working hard toward my solo and doing a lot of "simulated" mental flying. I fly the "pattern" in our kitchen, visualizing and going through the motions. So long as the weather holds, I am flying again tomorrow afternoon. Sometimes I think I am ready to solo very soon, other times, like last weekend, my confidence got shaken a bit, but this time it is personal. I began taking lessons when I was 13 years old. I first "flew" my father's Seneca on my 7th birthday...the day I decided to become a pilot! So, as you all can see...this has been a long time coming!
The photo is from a few weeks ago right after I conquered my fear of practicing stalls! A MAJOR brick wall that was blocking the path up my Everest!
Wow! What a great journey you've embarked on! I really admire your perseverance and dedication. What a neat goal to have! My Mount Everest is completely changing the way I think and teach in the classroom. It's been a challenge, but very rewarding! I wish you luck in the coming months... Keep us updated! :)
ReplyDelete@ Kelly: Thanks for sharing your Everest!
ReplyDeleteGreat new blog! Good luck on conquering it. You know what my Everest is, but I am not sure I will make the ascent.
ReplyDelete@Rick: Actually, I think you are going to conquer your Everest...just don't forget to take care of the preparations--mental & physical fitness, that should help a lot, then it is just a matter of time...A Kirby guarantee!
